Recover skins are intended to complement the elegant design of Apple products and allow for distinction that matches your own. By incorporating minimalistic design and limited manipulation, Recover merges classic with contemporary to redefine the ordinary.
Recover skins are precision laser-cut from authentic wood veneers. Each unique piece is hand sanded, stained, and lacquered in Recover’s Portland-based woodshop to ensure long lasting beauty and protection. All skins are constructed with professional grade 3M adhesive backing that allows for simple and strong adhesion while still allowing for removal if desired. Each one-of-a-kind piece is designed to fit your devices specific model and size.
How do I apply my Recover skin?
For MacBook/iPad:
Clean your computer surface with a mild cleanser and dry completely. You will notice that the 3M adhesive backing is divided into three sections. First, remove the center section of backing and center the Apple cutout on your device. Once properly placed, stick the center section to your device and smooth-out. Next, peel backing from remaining sections and stick to device. Take your time and make sure to place it properly the first time!
For iPhone:
Simply peel off the 3M adhesive backing and center on your device. Once properly aligned, stick to the device and smooth-out towards the edges. That’s it!
How thin are Recover skins?
Thin. Skins are approximately 1/32” thick. That’s half as thick as a penny!
Is custom engraving available?
Absolutely. Please understand that custom designs require a large amount of set-up work on our end, so expect to pay a premium for this service. We only accept Adobe Illustrator artwork, in which all lines and text are converted to outlines.
How long do Recover skins last?
Wood is meant to last a lifetime, that’s why we build houses out of it. By combining Grade-A wood with the best adhesive company in the known universe (3M, duh), Recover products are built to outlive your Apple product. It’s simple…Quality materials lead to long-lasting products.
Are Recover skins durable?
Is the sky blue? The answer is yes. Recover skins are made from 100% real wood, offering both unique style and the natural strength inherent to wood. Recover products are made to protect your device from scratches and small dings, but remember that a skin is not the same as a case. Recover skins do not protect from impact or water damage.
Are Recover skins removable?
YES. However, these skins are meant to outlive your Apple product, so don’t expect it to just peel off like a cheap temporary skin. Please keep in mind that Recover skins are made from 100% real wood, so expect it to crack and splinter during removal. The removal process may take some time, but the 3M adhesive will leave very little residue behind, which can be easily removed with common adhesive removal liquids (Goo-gone works great). We recommend using a plastic credit card or something similar to pry the skin off from underneath.
Can I reuse my skin?
We are all for recycling, but the wooden nature of Recover skins only allows for one-time use. Like we mentioned, Recover skins are made to outlive your Apple product. They are meant to be semi-permanent, and removal will lead to cracking and splintering.
Will a Recover skin void my warranty?
No. Recover skins will not void your AppleCare.
How long will shipping take?

What are Recover’s return and exchange policies?
Recover does not allow for any returns or exchanges unless the wrong item is shipped. If you receive the wrong item, DO NOT remove the adhesive backing. Email info(at)getrecover.com and we will work to resolve the issue.
